Creating a simulation case
After creating a tartan grid and tartan grid properties, and as the last step in the hydraulic fracture modeling process, you complete the Simulation Case form (simulate > Hydraulic Fractures > Simulation Case) to define a simulation case for the dynamic simulation. You create the case and select the tartan grid and properties.
To create a reservoir simulation case
- For Simulation case, select or create a simulation case for the dynamic modeling. You can specify a new empty case, for which you select a grid and grid properties, or you can select an existing case and update it.
- For Simulator, select the simulator you want to use. This option is only active if you selected to create a new case.
- If you are creating a new or copied case, in New case name, type the name of the case and then click Create.
- In Tartan grid, select the tartan grid and the tartan grid properties to use in the simulation.
-
Select the run options:
Update simulation case Select to update the currently active simulation case.
Copy and update simulation case Select to update the currently active simulation case, and also keep an unchanged version of the currently active simulation case as a base case. The copy made with this option is given the selected case’s name with a sequential number.

To execute the selected run options, click Apply or OK.
